All-new A350 XWB tours Brazil, Colombia as part of Americas Demo Tour

Last month, the world's newest, most modern and efficient aircraft -- the A350 XWB -- kicked off its Americas Demo Tour in Sao Paulo before making its debut in Campinas, Brazil, and Bogota, Colombia. While in Colombia, the A350 XWB conducted a demonstration flight over the F-AIR Colombia air show in Medellin.

More than 1,000 senior airline representatives from regional customers, including TAM - the A350 XWB’s launch customer in the Americas, Synergy, Azul and Avianca, visited the aircraft during the aircraft’s static displays and demonstration flights, along with aviation officials and press.

MSN2, the A350-900 that was displayed throughout Latin America before taking off for the United States, is an Airbus flight test aircraft that includes a two-class cabin with 42 lie-flat business class seats in a four abreast configuration and 210 economy-class seats. The aircraft is also fitted with special on-board flight test equipment.

The A350 XWB is the latest addition to the market-leading Airbus widebody product line. Seating up to 369 passengers in a two class layout, the aircraft can fly on routes of up to 8,000 nautical miles. The aircraft features the latest aerodynamic design, carbon fiber fuselage and wings, plus new fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. Together, these latest technologies translate into unrivalled levels of operational efficiency, with a 25 per cent reduction in fuel burn and emissions, and significantly lower maintenance costs.

Guests had the opportunity to experience first-hand the A350 XWB’s new levels of in-flight comfort, with more personal space in all classes. In the premium cabin, airlines can install the most luxurious lie-flat seats, which are becoming the norm for Business Class, while the extra wide fuselage allows for comfortable full service layouts in economy class with 18 inch-width seats in a typical 9-abreast configuration. The aircraft also features wider panoramic windows, larger overhead stowage compartments and a new draught-free air conditioning system, as well as the latest generation in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems.

The A350 XWB, which went on to visit five cities in the United States, including a guest appearance at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Airshow in Wisconsin, was avidly covered by hundreds of media outlets throughout Latin America and reached four million people via social media channels.
