Flight Hour Services: a view on Airbus PbH Market Expansion

When purchasing an aircraft, there are many factors to consider before delivery: performance, layout, weight and even the colour of the livery or the trim and finish. An aircraft will have to perform at its best throughout its lifecycle, from entry-into-service to its phase out.

To guarantee maximum availability of its products and operational efficiency, Airbus facilitates the integration of the aircraft into the operator's fleet by supporting the customers with material, maintenance and engineering needs through Airbus Flight Hour Services (FHS). 

Airbus offers the “FHS-Component” service, which guarantees component availability, covering the most valuable Line Replaceable Units. The service itself includes a dedicated on-site customer warehouse in order to have the most critical parts readily available , access to the Airbus network of pools, access to the global Airbus spares inventory worldwide, as well as repair and engineering services to repair, overhaul and support operators, by leveraging our OEM expertise.

As a result, airlines benefit from reduced up-front investment, derisking of operations to focus on core competencies, and cost savings of up to 15% by outsourcing their spares management.

With more than 50 customers and more than 1,400 aircraft under contract worldwide, Airbus has proven to be one of the most important providers of Power-By-the-Hour (PbH) services, with a strong presence in each region and pools in the Americas, Europe and Asia Pacific. 

In Latin America alone, three different customers on both A320 and A330 platforms benefit from the turnkey service, representing more than 150 aircraft under contract, making Airbus one of the top three providers in the region.

After more than 15 years in the business, Airbus FHS has consolidated itself as an established player in the PbH market, leveraging its manufacturing and engineering expertise  to further expand its global footprint.
