A350 XWB wows in South America

The A350 XWB continues to win the hearts and minds of aviation enthusiast from all over Latin America.

With its recent start of operations at TAM, we are already seeing the A350 XWB shape the efficiency of medium-to-long-haul airline operations, while minimizing fuel burn and operating costs. To expand the passenger experience beyond Brazil and Miami, where TAM currently operates, Airbus set out to showcase the world’s most technologically advanced commercial aircraft to some of the region’s most important airline customers and aviation officials.

Our friends in Buenos Aires were first to experience the A350 XWB’s MSN2 on this most recent tour. Airbus brought the A350 XWB to Aerolineas Argentinas for a half day of static display, welcoming Aerolineas’ new management and employees aboard, as well as aviation officials and members of the press. We were honored to host a select group of Aerolineas Argentinas executives on a special flight to Santiago, including the airline’s new CEO Isela Costantini.

The views from the A350 XWB’s signature panoramic windows allowed everyone to take in the spectacular views of Aconcagua. I can’t think of a better way to show off the aircraft than to invite passengers to fly aboard the most comfortable and efficient cabin in the sky today.

Six inches wider than the competition, the A350 XWB’s extra wide-body fuselage encompasses a 221-inch wide cabin providing extra versatility to meet airlines’ expectations and generous space for passengers comfort in all classes. Before touching down at the iconic FIDAE (Feria Internacional del Aire y del Espacio), the A350 XWB was already the main attraction thanks to dozen of press stories anticipating its arrival. While at the show, we had the pleasure to partner with our friends from IATA to host a demonstration flight for select participants attending the Wings of Change conference. The A350 XWB flew over the majestic Andes Mountains and sparkling Chilean coast to the delight of senior representatives from LATAM, Avianca, SKY, IATA, Rolls Royce, the Chilean Armed Forces and press. The flight allowed us to highlight the A350 XWB’s smooth curves, flowing lines, innovative full LED-lighting and wide windows, all of which created a most pleasant and soothing experience. And passengers were not shy to share their experience on board. I invite you to hear what they had to say here.

As in the past 20 years, Airbus was once again beaming with pride to bring its most successful innovation – the A350 XWB. Let’s see what we do in 2018!
