Skywise – the beating heart of aviation

Over the past two years Skywise has grown from just a concept to a recognized Data Asset to our industry. An open platform that connects in-flight, engineering and operational data in an analytic-rich environment, Skywise has become an important tool to connect the aviation industry and accelerate its digital transformation.

With the support of Palantir Technology, Airbus developed Skywise Core to overcome intrinsic challenges such as internal data silos and managing complex data which create inefficiencies, undue costs or even impede effective collaboration with other organisations in the aviation value chain. Skywise Core enables airlines to capture, transform, aggregate and arrange their data.

Co-designed with airline members of the Skywise Community, Airbus developed Skywise Digital Services. These address common pain point across airlines and are designed to best support their operation. Skywise Predictive Maintenance can provide early alerts of upcoming system degradation and support preventive actions; Skywise Reliability offers an intuitive point-and-click environment to identify and analyse fleet issues but also measure and benchmark fleet performance; Skywise Health Monitoring improves the overall fleet availability by managing aircraft events and their associated troubleshooting in real-time, allowing prioritization and tracking to increase the dispatch reliability.

Today Skywise has more than 60 customers and is serving more than 5000 aircraft worldwide. In Latin America, six airlines and 400 aircraft are already benefiting from the Skywise platform, and in mid-May, the first Skywise Americas Summit was held in Miami to catch up the region's customers.

In 2017, Mexico's VivaAerobus started its digital transformation, which included the renewal of its core systems. Skywise was implemented as a result and the airline hasn't looked back, saying that "the tool's intuition allows users to adapt to it very quickly and its flexibility allows to integrate anything into it."

Similarly, JetSMART explained that it takes them just two days to develop a new KPI in Skywise.
