Airbus Foundation brings innovative Flying Challenge program to Brazil

Nine students from Itajubá's Isaura Pereira dos Santos Municipal School recently experienced the ride of their life.

The children and their families were invited to fly in a H225M full flight simulator after winning the Flying Challenge, a youth development program created by the Airbus Foundation.

Having completed its first year in Latin America, the Flying Challenge aims at building student confidence and inspire them to explore careers in aerospace.

Volunteers from Airbus Brasil and Helibras, an Airbus Helicopters subsidiary and the only helicopter manufacturer in Brazil, mentored more than 60 fifth-grade students in math and Portuguese. The program also hosted various activities in Helibras and a drone workshop at the Federal University of Itajubá in partnership with AeroFrog.

Since its global launch in 2011, the Flying Challenge has reached more than 4,800 children and teenagers throughout six countries.
