A321neo new cabin options to boost revenue potential

Airbus is offering airlines brand new cabin options to add more seats and reduce seat mile costs by 5%

Airbus is offering airlines brand new options for configuring the generous floor space offered by the A321neo. From second-half 2017, airlines will have the option to select an additional over-wing exit on the A321neo, raising the maximum exit limit beyond 220 seats, and ensuring the full use of the available cabin floor space. With this option, the latest slim-line seats and the Space-Flex aft cabin, high cabin density operators, such as low cost carriers, will be able to specify arrangements with up to 236 seats (16 seats more than today’s maximum seating), offering an unprecedented decrease of seat-mile costs by up to 5%.

In conjunction with the additional over-wing exit door, a second new option is available whereby the forward exit at door 2 is de-activated. This creates a seamless, undivided forward cabin allowing additional seats and even more flexibility in multi-class seat arrangements. This option will be of particular use in longer range markets where high comfort standards are needed in Premium class.

The additional over-wing exit leads to the push back of door 3 and requires some minor reinforcements and modifications for which the weight impact will be minimum.

The A320 Family offers the widest cross section in the single aisle aircraft market with the Airbus standard 18 inch wide seat in economy class. With these new options, A321neo operators will be able to further optimize seat count and to increase revenue potential while preserving high comfort standards for passengers.
